2025 Bishop Kelley

Strategic Plan

A vision for 2030 and beyond!

In the 2024–25 school year, Bishop Kelley High School embarked on a comprehensive strategic planning process to guide our growth and mission over the next decade. In partnership with Meitler, a national leader in Catholic school planning, and with input from hundreds of stakeholders-including parents, students, faculty, alumni, board members, and community leaders-we identified our strengths, examined key areas for improvement, and envisioned a bold future grounded in our Catholic identity. The result is a clear and mission-driven Strategic Plan, organized around 10 focused goals that will shape Bishop Kelley’s next five years and set the foundation for long-term success. This plan reflects our shared commitment to preparing students’ hearts and minds for a purposeful life-now and into the future.

Our Story: Why Strategic Planning?

  • BK is a strong school-rooted in Catholic identity, rigorous academics, and a caring community. Our graduates go on to live purposeful lives.
  • But like all great schools, we can’t stand still. There are areas where we must grow and adapt to serve students better—today and in the future.
  • In 2024–25, Bishop Kelley partnered with Meitler, a nationally recognized Catholic education consulting firm, to conduct a comprehensive strategic planning process.

Who Participated?

Our planning process was inclusive and mission-driven:

  • Led by a Steering Committee chaired by Bishop Konderla and composed of Board members, alumni, parents, feeder school leaders, donors, faculty, and staff.
  • Surveys and feedback were collected from over 300 parents, 70+ faculty and staff, 350+ students, and the Board of Directors.
  • 30 faculty/staff volunteers joined subcommittees to review data and help shape the goals.

What We Learned:

  • BK’s Catholic identity is central and strong.
  • Parents and students rate the school highly-BK earned a Net Promoter Score of 71, well above benchmarks.
  • College prep, faith formation, and student experience are well-regarded.

  • There is a need to better support diverse learners, including students with different academic needs.
  • Faculty and staff report feeling “stretched thin” and want more voice in leadership decisions.
  • The school must grow its annual fund to strengthen financial sustainability.
  • As Tulsa ages demographically, strategic enrollment and marketing efforts are vital
  • Facilities for fine arts and campus safety need attention.

A Vision for the Future

Our 10-year preferred future envisions:

  • A faith-filled community where students encounter Jesus and live out their faith.
  • A rigorous, inclusive academic program supporting all learners.
  • A safe, modern campus-with space for prayer, fine arts, and technology.
  • A leadership culture of collaboration, trust, and mission-alignment.
  • Every student, employee, and donor choosing BK as their first choice.

Guiding Values and Goals

To bring our vision to life, we’ve identified 11 key goals across 4 Guiding Values:

  • Guiding Value #1: God is Present and Accessible at Bishop Kelley

Goal #1: Ensure all are invited into a relationship with Jesus, or to deepen one, and are taught to understand the role faith has in their daily lives and the lives of those in the broader community.

Goal #2: Expand the Catholic worldview to permeate all aspects of Bishop Kelley High School.

  • Guiding Value #2: Bishop Kelley is a Life Preparatory School

Goal #3: Enhance the academic excellence framework to ensure success for all learners.

Goal #4: Attract and retain highly qualified educators and staff who are committed to Catholic education at BKHS, ensuring alignment with the mission, values, and long-term goals of the school.

Goal #5: Develop, implement, and continuously refine the campus master plan to guide long-term growth, align with institutional priorities, and ensure sustainable, future-ready infrastructure.

  • Guiding Value #3: Bishop Kelley Mentors and Accompanies All Those Who Desire to Experience Catholic Education

Goal #6: Create an external annual marketing and communication plan

Goal #7: Create and implement a long-term, comprehensive advancement program.

  • Guiding Value #4: Bishop Kelley Expects Excellence

Goal #8: Create and maintain a safe, secure, updated, and practical learning environment that meets student needs.

Goal #9: Develop an internal communication plan.

Goal #10: The BKHS Board of Directors will be effective as a mission-driven, data-informed, and results-oriented Board.

Goal #11: Ensure leadership is organized to position BKHS for the future.

Why This Matters

  • These goals aren’t just about institutional success. They’re about students, and, ensuring each one grows spiritually, intellectually, and personally.
  • Our future depends on careful planning, bold vision, and the partnership of our whole community.

What Comes Next

  • Implementation begins in the 2025–26 school year and continues through 2030.
  • Teams of faculty and staff, under the leadership of administration and the Board, will guide each goal area.
  • Strategies will be evaluated and refined over time-but our direction is clear.
