Joe Daniels has just been named the new head girls basketball coach at Bishop Kelley High School.
"We are excited to have Joe become part of the Bishop Kelley community,” said Athletic Director Lance Parks. “He brings a level of experience and love for coaching that balances with a strong family and faith commitment and a focus on the education of student-athletes. I have no doubt that our student body will benefit from his presence in our Athletic Department.
Daniels has coached basketball as well as other sports in Oklahoma high schools for over 20 years. He has served most recently as the head varsity girls basketball coach at Catoosa. Prior to that he was the head coach at Beggs, where he coached several successful teams for many years. Daniels has been recognized as Coach of the Year by three separate organizations.
"I am excited for the opportunity and look forward to coaching the Lady Comets basketball team,” commented Daniels. “They have always had a strong program and I hope to build on that. Looking forward to a fun and productive season!"
He is a graduate of Northeastern State University, where he earned a degree in social studies secondary education. He went on to earn a Masters of Liberal Studies in Administrative Leadership from the University of Oklahoma. He has teaching experience in school districts around Oklahoma, including Coweta, Bixby and Catoosa.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Daniels to the Bishop Kelley family,” said Fr. Gary Kastl, Bishop Kelley president. “Joe will play a key role in forming our students and student athletes so that they can be successful in the classroom, on the court, and in life.”
