Father Gary Kastl Named New President of Bishop Kelley

Bishop David Konderla and the Bishop Kelley Board of Directors announced the appointment of Father Gary Kastl as the new President of Bishop Kelley High School.

“He is an outstanding choice. I look forward to working with him in the months ahead to ensure a smooth transition for the good of the community,” said Fr. Brian O’Brien, President of BKHS. Fr. Kastl will officially take over the position on December 22nd, when Father O’Brien departs to his new position as pastor of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stillwater.

Fr. Kastl has recently served as Pastor of St. Anne Catholic Church in Broken Arrow, a position he will retain until June of next year. At St. Anne’s, he helped grow the parish by 33% and led the completion of a major building project. He has also served as Pastoral Administrator (a position similar to a high school president) of All Saints Catholic School since 2013. His leadership experience has extended to serving as Associate Pastor at the Church of St. Mary, Pastor of St. Pius X and working with the Catholic Leadership Institute in Wayne, PA.

“Father Kastl’s appointment as President of Bishop Kelley is a strong affirmation of the importance of Catholic education in the work of the Church,” said BK Principal Jim Franz. “Few Catholic high schools in the United States are led by diocesan priests.  Father Kastl's leadership, combined with the extraordinary staff already in place at Bishop Kelley, position the school extremely well for the future.”
